Action required: update Norvane Forge on macOS

You must update Norvane Forge for macOS before June 12, 2026 to avoid losing access. Any macOS app or CLI installation that has not been updated by then will be blocked until it is updated.

What happened

As a precautionary security measure, the Norvane security team rotated the code signing certificate used to verify Norvane Forge on macOS. Builds signed with the old certificate will stop being trusted on June 12, 2026. Read the details in our blog post.

We found no evidence that user data was accessed, that our systems were compromised, or that our software was altered. We rotated the certificate out of an abundance of caution.

Norvane Forge on Windows and Linux, the Forge browser extension, and the Forge CLI on Windows and Linux are not affected.

Affected and minimum safe versions

Product Affected versions Minimum safe version
Norvane Forge app for macOS 3.4.0 through 3.7.2 3.8.0
Forge CLI on macOS Before 1.19.0 1.19.0

How to update

  1. Update the Forge app. Open the Norvane Forge menu and choose Check for Updates, or download the latest build:

    Download latest Forge for macOS
  2. Update the Forge CLI. Run this command in a terminal:

    npm install -g @norvane/forge-cli@latest

For other install methods, see the CLI update guide.

  3. Confirm the version. About Norvane Forge in the app menu should show 3.8.0 or later. In a terminal, forge --version should print 1.19.0 or later.

You do not need to reset your Norvane password or rotate your Norvane API keys.
